Welcome! This is the English version of the website of the Triratna Buddhist Community in Poland and of our Buddhist centre in Krakow - Sanghaloka.
Whether you are passing through Krakow with a backpack or living here permanently you may be surprised to come across a Buddhist centre in Krakow. You may have been curious about meditation or Buddhism for a while and may even have thought Thailand was the place to learn it or perhaps London, but Poland and Krakow of all places?
If you want to learn to meditate
Currently we don’t have regular weekly classes introducing meditation. But we do run introduction to mediation in English on Saturday or Sunday approximately once a month.
Next date(s): …. (coming soon)
Alternatively you can email us on firstname.lastname@example.org and come on Tuesday evening. This is not an introduction to meditation session, but we meditate together at 7pm and then run a bilingual (Polish and English) Buddhism course. You are welcome to join for meditation or meditation and course. And we can arrange to meet before the evening (e.g. at 6.30pm and teach you basics of meditation so then you can sit with us at 7pm).
We teach two basic meditation practices dating back to the time of the Buddha - the mindfulness of breathing and the metta bhavana (development of strong positive emotions towards oneself and others/all beings). More information about these practices on www.fwbo.org/meditation.html and http://www.wildmind.org/
You don’t need to be/become a Buddhist to attend and you don’t need to shave your head either.
We ask for a contribution towards our costs: 10zÅl (concession: 7 zl).
If you want to ask anything please feel free to email us on: email@example.com
If you already meditate and want to join for meditation and/or Buddhism course
As mentioned above on Tuesday at 7pm we run regular meditation and Buddhism course. We first meditate at 7.15pm (you’re welcome to join us any Tuesday) and then there is a talk (usually in English) and we split into an English- and Polish-speaking discussion groups. You can just come for meditation or stay for the whole evening. If you know meditation you can just come. And if you haven’t meditated drop us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org and we can arrange to meet before the evening (e.g. at 6.30pm and teach you basics of meditation so then you can sit with us at 7pm).
